About the Onancock Business & Civic Association

The purpose and objective of the Onancock Business & Civic Association (OBCA) is to increase the success of the Onancock community both collectively and as individuals in order to enhance the quality of life for the citizenry of Onancock.

The OBCA meets the first Tuesday of every month, 7 pm at Naomie Makemie Presbyterian Church, corner of Market and Lee Streets. Everyone is welcome.

Our agenda focuses on issues directly affecting the Onancock community. This entails the development of structures to improve business owner communications; to work on retail promotions; to affect local legislative issues as a group; to network education and training of business owners and their employees; to affect group savings in benefits and advertising; and to provide accountability in association finances.

To these ends, the Onancock Business & Civic Association was formed on May 13, 1997.

The OBCA's business goals include the promotion of town businesses, providing a welcome package for visitors and new residents, participating in town government plans that affect business and civic interests, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and recruiting new businesses.

Here's a membership form for the OBCA. We hope you will join us.

How to contact the Onancock Business and Civic Association.

This website is made possible by the work of several volunteers. Virginia Taylor graciously donates website hosting services. The well-written portions of the site are thanks to Bill and Mary Burnham, travel writers. Poorly written stuff is the work of the website designer (Greg Manter). Mary Burnham and Maryann Connelly took many of the photos.
