First Fridays in Onancock
"First Fridays" are held (naturally) on the first Friday evening of each month, April through December. 5-8 p.m. Stroll through this 1680 harbor town; the participating shops and galleries stay open late and feature local artists, demonstrations and specials. Have dinner in international and eclectic eateries. Sponsored by the Onancock Business & Civic Association.

At the Onancock School – 6 College Avenue
- Dragonfly Studio Gallery – an artist cooperative – for First Friday continues the special exhibit entitled: "The Four Elements." Gallery members will be exhibiting works on the theme "Earth." Refreshments will be served. Look forward to future First Friday exhibits: October – "Air" and November – "Fire."
- Dan Lawrence Studio – Room 103 – Will host an open house featuring Works on Paper from 5 – 8 PM. Warning: there will be no shell paintings in this show! Refreshments will be served.
- Glass Expressions Stained Glass – Relocation Grand Opening in Room 106. Refreshments will be served.
On Market Street and Crockett Street
- Ker Place – Market Street - Ker Place will be offering a special candlelight tour for First Friday. The tour will start at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $5.00 (members are free). The Museum Shop will be open from 6 – 8 PM and features a large selection of books, gifts, handcrafted jewelry and unique historical reproductions.
- Red Queen Gallery – 6 Crockett St. – features Karen Tweedie and her "Sea Collection" – a must come see!
- Dawn – 63 Market St. – A unique shop for women and home. Stop by and review all the Fall fashion not to be missed. It is coming and going quickly! Open 5 – 7 PM on First Friday for your shopping enjoyment.
- Encore – 34 Market Street – "Shore Specialties and Enchanting Gifts." First Friday will be featuring Local Vineyard Holly Grove. Please enjoy a wine tasting and pairing with Blue Crab Bay products 6 – 8 pm.
- Scoops Ice Cream Shop – 132 Market Street – Come visit us through our convenient drive-thru for the best chili-dog in town, along with refreshing fruit smoothies, slushies and the best banana split on the shore! We also have special occasion ice cream cakes.
On King Street and North Street
- Richardson Gallery – 24 King St. – will be hosting a reception for Angela Herbert-Hodges who will be showing her paintings and collages for the month of September. The reception will be from 5 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
- Great Space ETC – 42 King St. – Come by and shop for unique yet affordable gifts for yourself or someone special.
- gardenART on King Street – 44 King St. – Come in to see the new Fall Arrivals! "Yappie Hour" - well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Refreshments served 5 – 8 pm.
- Harbor Pool & Spa – 49 King St. – Is having a blowout on above-ground pools, complete with pool kits in various sizes, with installation and all necessary equipment included. And 25% off all Clear Comfort brand products for non-chlorine pools.
- Onancock General Store – King & North Streets – A gift shop and cafe serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. Celebrating one-year anniversary, for First Friday, stop in for a Hot Fudge Sundae sample.
- The Blarney Stone Pub – 10 North St. – Greg Evans will be playing on the patio and there will be a free dessert with the purchase of an entree and a donation to the Hospital Elder Life Program ("HELP").
- Flamenco Gift Shop – 4 North St. – will sell fresh home baked bread on First Friday in the late afternoon, as well as limited bagels, until all are sold.
- The Charlotte Hotel & Restaurant – 7 North St. – Mention the free dessert promotion to receive a free dessert with the purchase of a starter and entree. The Next Door Gallery – 9 North St. – will also be open for your perusal.
At the Wharf
Mallards at the Wharf – Come enjoy an ice cold beverage and delicious dinner by Johnny Mo, while overlooking the sun setting on the beautiful Onancock Creek at Mallards at the Wharf. By boat or by car, it's never too far!
