Paint Onancock! Plein AirPlein Air Painting and Photography Days: October 11-13, 2011 Calling all artists and photographers to participate in Paint Onancock Plein Air! Located on the Eastern Shore of VA, Onancock is a petite harbor town known for its architecture, creekside views and colorful nature. Artists will have the opportunity to paint and photograph picturesque historic Onancock for 3 days; October 11-13. The 4th Annual Paint Onancock Plein Air exhibit and sale of artist’s work will be held on Friday October 14th, 2011 with a reception from 5-8 p.m. during Onancock's Second Friday Art Stroll at both sponsor galleries; gardenART on King St and Red Queen Gallery. Both galleries are accepting applications for artists to participate in this popular autumn event. Application and prospectus can be found at: Paint Onancock! Plein Air 2011. This year a photography exhibit will be added for the first time. The evening reception will award cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and honorable mention as judged by Onancock resident artist Charlotte B. Heath. We are very fortunate to have Charlotte as our judge as she brings a wealth of experience: Charlotte was born and reared in rural southwestern Pennsylvania and for the last nine years lived here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Charlotte is the owner of the Charlotte Hotel and restaurant and her art can be viewed at the Next Door Gallery inside the Charlotte Hotel. Her paintings have been exhibited in international juried botanical shows from New York City to Seattle including a stop at the Weismann Museum in Minneapolis which was the first contemporary botanical art show in a major museum. She was chosen for this honor along with forty-five other artists from around the world. With a deep rooted love for nature, painting botanicals is the most satisfying of her subjects. Additional prizes are awarded during the October 14th reception where visitors vote for their personal "Best in Show" and "Favorite Artist" from 5-7 p.m. The artwork will remain on display and for sale through the weekend.
