Tall Ship SULTANA at Onancock sailing through centuries
June 1 - 4, 2012 (scroll down for the complete schedule)
The Schooner Sultana is coming to Onancock, Virginia! See this beautiful tall ship and enjoy the festival we created to celebrate its arrival. There will be live bands and activities for the whole family. The Tall Ship SULTANA at Onancock festival is presented in association with OpSail 2012 Virginia™. It commemorates the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and fosters interest in maritime history and heritage.

The Schooner Sultana is a replica of a Boston-built merchant vessel that served for four years as the smallest schooner in the British Royal Navy. Using the British Admiralty's documentation of the original Sultana, she has been recreated with outstanding detail and offers a glimpse of 18th century seafaring life. Launched in 2001 and based in the historic port of Chestertown, Maryland, Sultana now sails as the "Schoolship of the Chesapeake," providing educational programs for more than 5,000 students each year.
Explore the quaint town of Onancock while you're here. Walking and biking tour maps are available at the welcome center at the Town Wharf.
Onancock is about 90 minutes from Virginia Beach or Norfolk by car. It's an easy drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and up Route 13. Here is information for those coming to Onancock by boat.
