Join a quiet walking meditation for peace. We will walk as the Monks did , without signs or comment, from there up to Hill Street. Everyone is welcome. The walk begins at 10:30 a.m. on Market Street in Onancock, near the wharf. Parking is available in the wharf parking lot, on the street, and behind the shops and bakery in the center of town on Queen Street. We will meet in the park across from 5 Market Street. (Plan to arrive in time for a 10:15 gathering)
We will walk in silence, single file, on the sidewalk up to Hill Street. Participants are welcome to walk as far as they wish and may join us at any point along the route. Printed handouts will be available stating our intention to cultivate peace in ourselves and in the world. We will not carry signs or promote specific issues. We should avoid messages on hats and shirts. We walk in peace.
The first and last walkers will wear peace symbols on their clothing. The walk will take place rain or shine. If severe weather threatens, please check your email for cancellation information.
The Peace Walk is hosted by the Salt Marsh Sangha. Salt Marsh Sangha is a community that meets weekly in Nassawadox to practice mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk.
